Porcelain veneers, often alternatively termed dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth to make a cosmetic improvement in their appearance. How Are Veneers Different from Fillings or Crowns?

A composite resin filling is used when only a small amount of tooth structure needs replacing or repair. A porcelain veneer is indicated when a portion of the front surface of a tooth needs a "face lift."

How Are Porcelain Veneers Created and Attached?

The doctor will preparing the front side of the tooth by removing .5 to .7 millimeters of the tooths' enamel, then we will take an impression of your tooth to make an exact copy. This copy of your tooth will then be sent to a dental laboratory that will in turn make your veneer. Once we have received the veneer, we apply a tooth-colored liquid bonding material, which helps the veneer adhere to your natural teeth.
